It’s timeless and energy-filled, a high-octane instant classic album filled with dynamite and fireworks. The superhero-inspired Swedes are getting closer and closer to veteran status, but they have never sounded better than right now.

Märvel produces a sound inspired by the KISS-esque 70’s mixed with the classic-modern Swedish rock style à la The Hellacopters. The result is ten marvelous songs one could listen to hour after hour, day after day.

It’s an album without obvious weaknesses, and with some songs that are among the best songs to ever come out of Swedish music. The absolute highlight is the smashing tune “Great Man”, which among great riffs, a verse and a chorus who battles about being the catchiest part, and the fantastic breakdown with the lyrics “do you remember the frogs in the ponds, do you recall all the lines from James Bond. It was magic, now it’s kind of tragic”, has the sexiest hi-hat fill ever produced in rock music.

Other highlights include “Sound of Life Slipping Away”, “One Common Enemy” and “Lizard’s Tongue”, but all in all the entire album is worth a listen-through. And if not, at least give “Great Man” a go. You will not regret it.

The Seventh Son

Tuesday is recommendation day, and today’s recommendation is of a band and an album that is among the very best to be released in 2022.
